Spasticity refers to muscle tightness, stiffness, and cramping that can’t be controlled. Spastic muscles may also cause jerky movements, or spasms. Physiatry refers to medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. Join us and Cassandra List, MD, for a discussion about the role of a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician, or physiatrist, in a patient’s care. She will also be giving an overview of how spasticity impacts patients and their function, and what can be done to manage spasticity with goals of greater function and quality of life.
