"Soul Dlicious Infused" Episode #13 – Cannabinoids Part 2 with Cannabis Chemist Bea Martinez

Bea Talks Cannabinoids
Benjamin Bey of Soul D’licious Infused and Bea Martinez of THC Production, LLC continue their detailed discussion about cannabinoids. Bea discusses the science of oxidation, CBN, CBA, CB2, and the sedative properties of Cannabinoids. Additionally, Bea talks about the activation of sensory nerves.

Bea also gives us a fun fact or two. Did you know that CBG, or Cannabigerol, is the mother of all cannabinoids? In fact, CBG is found in less than 2% of known cannabis and hemp strains. Finally, she lets us know that the more CBG in a plant as it grows, the more THC is possible in the finished product.

More About Cannabinoids
Biologically, cannabinoids help us regulate multiple parts of our bodies and have a multitude of effects and applications. Wondering what those are? Many researchers are excited about cannabinoids and THC’s potential anti-cancer effects. First of all, they were found to decrease the size of a particular type of lung tumor. A study indicated they can also block cancer from growing and spreading throughout the body. Even better, CBG can help regulate biological functions. These include depression assistance, anti-fungal properties, psoriasis, Huntington’s disease, and more.

You likely haven’t heard of cannabichromene, also known as CBC. However, it is worth mentioning here. CBC is a rare but very valuable cannabinoid. Discovered in the 1960s, CBC is considered one of the “big six” cannabinoids in medical research. According to Leafly, CBC’s benefits are extremely promising. CBC is non-intoxicating. Therefore, it won’t produce a euphoric high like THC. This is because it binds poorly to CB1 receptors in the brain. The effects of THC and CBD working together is well-known. However, knowledge about an entourage effect is not well understood at this time.

As you can see, there’s a lot to learn about cannabinoids. Of course, we only have so long to cover each topic. You can learn more about CBN and Cannabinoids by reviewing this article. You can also watch and review the first podcast on Cannabinoids by visiting this podcast article.
