Arizonans pass Prop 207, legalize recreational marijuana
Recreational marijuana use has been legalized in Arizona.
Proposition 207 allows for the legal possession and recreational use of marijuana for anyone over 21 years old in the state of Arizona. Individuals can possess up to one ounce of marijuana and can use it recreationally if they are not in public places, such as parks, sidewalks, or restaurants, or not operating a vehicle.
The proposition will also create a sales tax on marijuana, the same 16% tax that is currently on cigarettes and alcohol, and will require the Arizona Department of Health Services to regulate the marijuana business.
